What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis is an altered state of mind. This simply means that it is a changed state from what we think of as being our normal state. It might surprise you to learn that we experience altered states of mind completely naturally in our normal every day lives. Have you ever been so focussed on a task that you don’t notice anything else going on around you? Or driven in the car to a destination but when you get there you don’t really remember the journey that well? Or been lost in a daydream? Those are altered states of mind, or forms of hypnotic trance.

 

While hypnosis is naturally occurring, it can also be induced for the purpose of therapy – hypnotherapy.In hypnotherapy you enter a very relaxed state which allows your unconscious to be more open to the changes that you want to achieve.

 

Hypnotherapy is a powerful and scientifically evidenced way to address a range of psychological, emotional and medical issues.

I am also a mother, wife, and the human to two dogs. I love walking (the dogs insist), enjoying the countryside, reading, listening to podcasts, watching films and meeting friends for meals and fun.

What makes my approach different is that I don’t use hypnotherapy in isolation; I integrate it with Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy, Inner Child work and other psychotherapeutic techniques, drawing on whichever combination serves you best. Every treatment plan I create is unique, because you are.

 

I am passionate about helping people to achieve mental and physical wellbeing. I enjoy taking the time to get to know clients and fully understand their situation and goals so I can create unique and effective treatment plans. It’s inspiring to see clients harness their inner strength, realise the power of their minds and fulfil their potential.

 

I hold a Diploma in Integrative Evidence-based Clinical Hypnotherapy & Mind Body Health Practice (PDHyp) and am a member of the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR) and the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).
